A beautiful, textural vintage Berber rug with a wonderfully soft wool pile, woven on a cotton and textile foundation, some of which incorporates Lurex. Glittering silver threads catch the light throughout the geometric pattern and emerge particularly beautifully through areas of natural wear.  The palette is gentle and sun-faded, moving from a touch of faded red in one small area into soft, warm magenta tones. An irregular network of Berber lozenges extends across most of the rug, giving it a wonderfully organic character. Most likely woven in the 1960s–70s, this is a particularly unusual and tactile piece, with its combination of softened colour, age, wear and subtle flashes of silver creating a quietly luminous effect.
