This vintage rug echoes the design and formal structure of urban carpets with an elegant, ordered composition - yet is very much a domestic rural rug woven in soft deep ruby pink wool with thick dark brown-black selvages. The composition has a nice formality, and the colours have faded into a soft overall look, with the deep mauves and jewel hues now having a super, aged patina. In good vintage condition with nibbling into the fringes, some superb repairs can be seen from the back of this gorgeous rug
