An intricate and beautiful rug from the Middle Atlas Mountains, skilfully woven in dense and silky pure wool knotted pile in the deep, jewel-like and bold colours the weavers from that region are famed for. The glorious design is personal, with complex and protective symbols, including the Berber lozenge, a traditional female symbol, and a ‘break’ created in the design (not in the rug) one third into the rug. In lovely condition, there are two visible repairs, and the fringe has been tidied up
