This vintage rug originates from the region between Marrakesh and Morocco’s Atlantic coast, where it would traditionally have been woven as a soft sleeping mat. Dating to around the 1960s, the piece features a strong geometric design based on grids and linear forms—motifs often associated with agriculture and the land in Berber weaving traditions. At one end, small half-lozenge motifs introduce a personal, decorative touch characteristic of Berber artisanship. Now soft and blanket-like with age, the rug shows 8–9 visible restorations, each contributing to its unique character. This is an authentic vintage piece with genuine history and provenance.
