The Berber tribes of the Marrakesh plains produced textiles that combined lovely shades of every colour, sometimes dyed several shades to develop a particular hue. This original old and personal carpet is a rare example of weaving from the Ait Ouaouzguite tribes in that the colours are lighter and brighter and sharper than the deep tangerines and rusts often seen in their rugs. Vintage, this very beautiful rug is tightly woven in mixed fibers rather than wool, and the composition is nicely packed with imagery, featuring variations on the Berber lozenges and bordered on two sides in thick black edging.
