This genuine vintage rural rug demonstrates the skilled craft of Berber weaving - it is full of symbols yet the weaver has artfully woven a storyline of relatively formal motifs and design structure in the first third of the rug, then has given way to more organic and fluid motifs throughout the rest of the piece. While we can’t fully understand the narrative behind this unusual composition, it speaks to a lively and creative hand at the loom. Woven in pure wool, the knotted pile is in good condition with some gentle wear and the red is a little lighter than it appears here
